A long cascade in the North Georgia mountains, with walking routes beside the falling water.
Amicalola Falls descends 729 feet through a mountain setting near Dawsonville. The park’s visitor center and stone Appalachian Trail approach arch make a natural place to begin orienting yourself, even if your plan is simply to see the waterfall. The cascade is spread down a steep slope, making the choice of viewing route part of the experience.
Do not treat all of the park’s waterfall walks as an easy stroll. The operator describes its guided approach as moderate to strenuous, with steep sections, uneven footing and optional stairs. That outing passes the Reflection Pool before continuing toward the falls. Ask staff which viewing route suits your group, especially if stairs or mobility are a concern. Summer can be hot and humid, so carry water. Check the park’s current access information and the schedule before choosing a guided walk.
